Notice of Public Hearing on Proposed Contract Documents & Estimated Costs for Improvement

You are hereby given notice that a public hearing will be held by the City Council of Waukon on the proposed contract documents (plans, specifications and form of contract) and estimated cost for the improvement at its meeting at 7:00 P.M. on April 4, 2022, at City Hall, Waukon, Iowa.

The description of the type of public improvement and its location are as follows:

The project will consist of resurfacing existing streets with 3” of fiber reinforced HMA after curb and gutter repairs or new curb and gutter has been completed. HMA headers will be milled. Sidewalks at intersections will be made ADA compliant and driveway approaches will be modified as needed. Existing sanitary sewer manholes will be adjusted to grade with PCC boxouts. One existing intersection and an approach to a second intersection will be removed and replaced with new 8” thick PCC. Three PCC blocks will have curb and gutter isolated with full depth saw cuts before they are cracked and seated. Other miscellaneous items will also be part of the project. Project is located on two blocks of 5th Avenue NW from 4th Street NW to Second Street NW, four blocks of 2nd Street NW from 4th Avenue NW to 8th Avenue NW, and one block of 2nd Avenue NW from 1st Street NW to Allamakee Street.

The City Council will meet at a meeting in said Council Chambers at 7:00 P.M. on April 4, 2022, to consider the plans and specifications, estimate of cost and proposed form of contract and to act upon the bid proposals and to consider entering into a contract for said improvements.

Any persons interested may appear at such meeting of the City Council for the purpose of making objections to the plans, specifications or contract or the cost of making the improvements.
