Program Description

Rules

  1. Roster limit is 16. You may only be on ONE team as a full-time player. If you are a sub, you can sub on more than one team throughout the season but you cannot play on more than one team in a night.
  2. All players must be at least 16 years old or out of high school.
  3. Players may be added to rosters at any time and do not have to sit out one game before beginning to play. However, players must be on the roster AND have played 2 regular season games to be able to play in the league tournament. (New 2019)
  4. For teams playing the 7:00 game, there is a 10-minute grace period to have seven players to start the game. No grace periods for the 8:00 & 9:00 games. If a team does not have 7 players by game time or by the end of a long running game, that team must forfeit. Lineups, with at least seven players, must be in the scoring booth by game time. Warming up is to be done before the game – off the field.
  5. Duty teams consist of at least three people per field: two umpires and a scorekeeper. If a duty team fails to show up, the team will be fined $9.00 per person per game.
  6. No steal spikes allowed.
  7. Players must slide on close plays. A runner may be called out by the umpire for not sliding whenever necessary. Necessary is whenever there’s a chance of a collision.
  8. Runners coming home can use the black mat as part of home plate when scoring.
  9. A continuous batting order may be used. All players may bat in succession but are not required to play in the field. Teams may choose to substitute freely on defense. Male-female batting order must be used, a mandatory out for each missing female.
  10. A team consists of at least 10 players, five males and five females. A team may start with a minimum of seven players, but must take a mandatory out for each missing female hitter in the lineup.
  11. When a male batter walks on a 3 and 0 count, he goes to 2nd base. The female batter behind him must bat. If a male batter walks on a 3 and 1 count, he goes to 1st base. No lead offs. If you are caught leading off at any point, it is an automatic out.
  12. A female or male pitcher is allowed.
  13. There is a limit of seven runs per inning per team. The other team is automatically up to bat after seven runs have been scored. In the seventh inning or extra innings this rule does not apply. If it appears that a team will be beaten because of the 15 run rule in the 3rd or 4th innings,10 run rule in the fifth or sixth innings, and the losing team needs more than seven runs to stay alive, the rule is not enforced.
  14. The pitcher must have AT LEAST one foot on the pitching rubber throughout the delivery of the pitch.
  15. Pitching arc must be at least six feet (measured from the ground up) and no more than 15 feet.
  16. Any outfielder that positions himself/herself on the infield (off the outfield grass), during a pitched ball that has not yet reached the plate, can be called by the umpire. This results in a dead ball and the runner automatically going to first base and any other runners advancing one base.
  17. The 15-run rule after three innings and the 10-run rule after five innings will apply.
  18. When a runner crosses the 25-foot line before home plate, a force out is in effect.
  19. 4 Home Run Limit per team per game. A double is awarded for each home run after that & base runners advance 2 bases.
  20. If a home run is hit, the batter or a team mate must go get the ball. The batter does not have to run the bases.
  21. Other than the above rules, ASA Rules will apply.
  22. Underage drinking at the Waukon Softball Complex will not be tolerated.
  23. NO drinking pop or beer on the field, only in the dugout or outside the field when a game is being played. Make sure to clean up the dugout area after your game!! NO SMOKING IS ALLOWED ON THE FIELD.
  24. (New 2019): BYOB (Bring your own beer). The concession stand WILL NOT be serving alcohol but will have other beverages and snacks.
