The Waukon Industrial Park is 108 acres owned by the Waukon Economic Development Corporation. The park is located between State Highways 76 and 9. It has varied size lots available. It is located near a city-owned recreational park, with trails available to bike or hike during employee lunch hours as well as a newly constructed Aquatic Center. The Economic Development office offers significant incentive packages and works with local, regional, state and federal grants and low interest loans to assist businesses in expanding and relocating. Tax Increment Financing and Economic Development Grants are offered to industrial businesses relocating or expanding as well.  These programs are based on the jobs created and the total cost of the project.  Contact the Economic development office for more information on these programs.

The Smokefree Air Act was signed into law by Governor Chet Culver on April 15, 2008. The law went into effect on July 1, 2008. Smoking is regulated in public places, places of employment, and certain outdoor areas. The Smokefree Air Act outlines areas where smoking is prohibited, areas where smoking is not regulated, enforcement details, and scheduled penalties for persons and businesses that violate the law. No registration of a business is needed in Allamakee County, but we advise that you register your business for a trade name at the Recorder's Office in the Allamakee County Courthouse at 110 Allamakee Street, Waukon or please see the attached file. The form also needs to be signed in front of a notary before recording and the recording fee is $7.00.

The Iowa Department of Economic Development (IDED) has created the Business License Information Center (BLIC) as a clearinghouse of resources to aid in finding the information you need on licenses and permits required for new and expanding businesses and those businesses supported by licensed occupations.
